Dead by Daylight 5.7.0 Update Revamps Legion and Ghost Face, Reworks Hemorrhage
Dead by Daylight's 5.7.0 update delivers substantial Legion and Ghost Face reworks and a punishing new Hemorrhage effect.
Behaviour Interactive deployed the 5.7.0 update for Dead by Daylight on April 27, 2026, delivering substantial reworks for two fan-favorite killers, a complete overhaul of the Hemorrhage status effect, and a visual refresh for the Haddonfield map. Players on PC and consoles can download the patch starting at 11 AM ET, but they should brace for a massive file download — the developers have restructured the game files to accelerate future updates, which requires a near-full redownload this one time.
The patch introduces a reimagined difficulty rating system for killers, removing survivor difficulty ratings entirely. Killers are now categorized as Easy, Moderate, Hard, or Very Hard, providing clearer guidance for players of all skill levels. Switch users are advised to update to firmware 14.1.0-1.0 or newer to resolve issues with Auric Cell purchases.
One of the most impactful systemic changes is the Hemorrhage rework. Previously a minor nuisance, Hemorrhage now causes healing progression to regress at 7% per second when a survivor is not being actively healed. This means a near-complete heal can vanish in just over 10 seconds. Perks and add-ons tied to Hemorrhage have been adjusted accordingly. Sloppy Butcher now accelerates healing regression by 15/20/25%, and The Nightmare's "Z" Block add-on applies Hemorrhage for 90 seconds. The goal is to make hit-and-run strategies more punishing and to force survivors to commit to healing.
Boil Over has been toned down, now increasing struggle effects by 60/70/80% (down from 50/75/100%). The once-dominant Boon: Circle of Healing has its healing speed bonus reduced to 40/45/50% (from 65/70/75%), addressing community concerns about its overwhelming strength.
The Legion receives a comprehensive overhaul designed to reward chaining hits during Feral Frenzy. Now, each successful Feral Slash increases movement speed by +0.2 m/s for the remainder of the frenzy. After four consecutive slashes, the next hit instantly puts the survivor into the dying state and ends the frenzy. Basic attacks no longer drain the power gauge, allowing Legion to mix normal swings without punishing their frenzy uptime. Fatigue after frenzy is reduced to 3 seconds, and the power gauge begins recharging immediately upon ending.
Many of Legion's add-ons have been reworked or replaced. For example, Mischief List now extends frenzy duration by 2 seconds, and Scratched Ruler cuts recharge time by 5 seconds. New add-ons like Stylish Sunglasses reveal the auras of mending survivors within 24 meters, while BFFs grants a permanent 4% movement speed boost when not in frenzy if enough tokens are earned by the time exit gates are powered. Removed add-ons include Nasty Blade and Cold Dirt.

Ghost Face has undergone a substantial mechanical polish and rebalance. Marked survivors can no longer reveal him, and the Marked timer is extended to 60 seconds. The stalk and reveal systems have been reworked to function more reliably, especially when multiple survivors attempt to reveal at the same time. Reveal progress now decays gradually if line of sight is broken, rather than resetting instantly. The sighting zones for both killer and survivor cameras have been tuned to account for first- and third-person perspectives, making reveals more consistent at the edges of the screen and on non-standard resolutions.
A slew of Ghost Face add-ons have been refreshed: 'Philly' reduces marking time by 20%; 'Cinch Straps' keeps Night Shroud active after a missed basic attack; 'Drop-Leg Knife Sheath' grants a 10% speed boost after marking; 'Knife Belt Clip' reduces terror radius by 8 meters while crouching; and 'Olsen's Wallet' instantly recharges Night Shroud upon breaking a pallet or wall. These changes encourage a more dynamic and stealthy playstyle.
The update also brings adjustments that came from the Public Test Build. The Nightmare's "Z" Block add-on had its bleed frequency modifier restored. Hemorrhage no longer affects healing progress while a survivor is downed. The stalk and reveal values for The Shape and Ghost Face have been fine-tuned following the technical rework. Several Legion add-ons, including Frank's Mixtape and Julie's Mixtape, received further balance tweaks based on PTB feedback.
The Archives expand with Tome 11: DEVOTION, launching on April 28, 2026, at 11 AM ET. Alongside the new tome, older challenges like "Blood Debt" have had their completion requirements reduced for accessibility, and naming conventions across tomes now use Arabic numerals for consistency.
A massive list of bug fixes accompanies the content changes. The highlights include:
-
Fixed issues where the Wraith could appear invisible while uncloaked or visible while cloaked.
-
Resolved a bug that made survivors invisible when switching between lobby and store, and another that caused a hardlock during loading screens.
-
Repaired collision problems in maps like RPD, Swamp, and Gideon Meat Plant, eliminating spots where survivors could become unreachable.
-
Addressed Hex: Ruin not working after Hex: Undying was destroyed, and corrected Dance With Me’s cooldown icon.
-
Fixed audio glitches, including map-wide survivor breathing and Ghost Face reveal sound effects, as well as flickering dream world visuals.
-
Switch-specific performance fixes, such as low FPS on the main menu and infinite loading screens on Xbox One.
-
Gamepad support improvements, menu navigation fixes, and disconnection penalty corrections.
The update’s file restructuring means that this patch will be a sizable download, close to the full game size, but Behaviour assures that future updates will be faster and more efficient. With the 5.7.0 patch, Dead by Daylight takes significant steps toward balancing and modernizing its core killer gameplay, making it an essential update for both casual and competitive players.
